If so, consider volunteering.

There are several organizations near our Clarksburg, MD apartments that are always looking for help, whether you can work a few days a week or a few hours a month. Highlights include:

Germantown Library

The Germantown Library, located a 13-minute drive away, strives to improve the community’s quality of life by providing resources that enhance individual knowledge. It loans thousands of books every year and offers an array of programs. Adults can enjoy book discussion groups and a French conversation club where participants can practice their language skills with a native French speaker.

Volunteers are a critical part of the library team. Both short and long-term appointments are available. The volunteer coordinator will match you to a position based on your interests and amount of free time.

Wilson Parrot Foundation

Brian Wilson is a retired firefighter who became passionate about birds at a young age. In 1995, he suffered devastating injuries in a car accident and credited his birds for the progress he made in relearning how to walk and talk. That’s how the Wilson Parrot Foundation was born. It rehabilitates unwanted parrots and places them in loving forever homes.

Brian welcomes volunteers who aren’t afraid of hard work. Depending on one’s interests, duties may include feeding the parrots, helping with administrative tasks, and repairing the facility’s wooden structures.┬áThe Wilson Parrot Foundation is a 14-minute drive away.
