Wheaton Park Stables
Wheaton Park Stables, located a 30-minute drive away, is where “generations learn to ride.” It has welcomed riders for nearly sixty years and specializes in trail rides and group lessons. The gentle horses range in age from 6 to 34. There’s one for all abilities, and beginners are typically paired with an older horse.
The trail rides are offered year-round on Sunday afternoons. They meander through picturesque scenery, and no prior experience is necessary.
Woodland Horse Center
Called the “friendliest barn in town,” Woodland is Maryland’s premier horse center. It spans 25 acres and is dedicated to the preservation of the art of horseback riding. Facilities include indoor/outdoor rings and a convenient trail system.
Students sixteen and older can enjoy adult lessons. All abilities are welcome, and the sessions include learning how to trot, canter, and more. There’s also an introductory class on Sunday afternoons. It welcomes all ages and participants should wear jeans and close-toe shoes. Woodland Horse Center is a 32-minute drive away.
Reddemeade Equestrian Center
Spanning forty acres of rolling Maryland farmland, the Reddemeade Equestrian Center, located a 33-minute drive away, has been a local fixture since 1984. It focuses on horsemanship and encourages everyone to master both mounted and unmounted skills. The owners are talented competitors. They’re onsite daily teaching lessons and training their horses. Both beginning and advanced students are welcome, and they can compete in local horse shows.
Introductory sessions are held every Saturday at 1:30 p.m. They offer a taste of horseback riding along with a tour of the farm.
